Whether you’re chasing toddlers on the beach or soaking up some much needed “me time” by the pool, your swimsuit is designed to keep up with all your adventures. Like anything worth loving, it needs a little TLC.
Here’s how to keep it looking as fresh as the day you got it..
Swim & Leisure
✦ Rinse, rinse, rinse! After every swim, give your suit a quick rinse in cold or room temperature water to wash away chlorine, salt, and sunscreen. Think of it like a little post swim spa treatment.
✦ No rough love. Harsh detergents, fabric softeners, and washing machines on full blast are the villains of long lasting swimwear. If your suit needs extra cleaning, use a gentle hand wash cycle with a baby-safe or lingerie detergent.
✦ Watch the products. Be mindful when using sunscreens, lotions, or skincare products, as certain chemicals can cause fabric discolouration.
✦ Air dry like a queen. Squeeze out excess water and lay your suit flat or hang it up in the shade to dry.
✦ Avoid rough surfaces. As they snag delicate fabrics. A towel underneath keeps your suit safe.
✦ Let it breathe. Never leave damp garments rolled up in plastic bags for long periods to guard against mildew and structural damage.
Linen
✦ Gentle vibes only. Hand wash your linen or pop it in the machine on a delicate, cool cycle. Use a mild detergent and skip the harsh chemicals, linen loves a gentle touch.
✦ Air dry like a queen. Hanging your linen up or laying it flat in the shade is always preferred. Bonus, linen naturally dries in a flash!
✦ Tumble with caution. If you're in a pinch, tumble dry on low heat, but take it out while it’s still slightly damp. This keeps wrinkles at bay and keeps the fabric happy.
✦ To iron or not to iron. For a crisp, polished look, iron your linen while it’s still damp on a medium high setting. Or, do less and embrace its natural, relaxed texture.
Mesh Garments
✦ Handle with care. Hand wash your mesh in cold water, or pop it in a laundry bag on a delicate machine cycle. Avoid any aggressive stretching or pulling, mesh loves a gentle touch.
✦ Keep it mild. Use a gentle, non abrasive detergent to keep the fabric soft and pristine. Harsh chemicals are a no go here.
✦ Air dry like a queen. Lay your garment flat or hang it up to air dry. Skip the tumble dryer entirely, as high heat is the ultimate enemy of delicate fibers.
✦ Skip the iron. Mesh is naturally crease-resistant and generally doesn’t need ironing. If you absolutely must, use the lowest heat setting and always place a protective cloth between the iron and the fabric.
✦ Watch the snags. Keep your mesh away from sharp objects, rough jewellery, or anything that could snag or tear the delicate weave.
